Dr. Mario is In

May 27th, 2008 Posted in Wii, Wiiware by Rajiv Ashrafi

drmario_1 Nintendo continues its weekly tradition of updating the Virtual Console service by adding two new retro games as well as two WiiWare titles.

The first WiiWare title this week is Dr. Mario Online Rx, a game where Mario takes on the role of a doctor to exterminate evil viruses and their ilk. There are two battle modes and an online multiplayer mode alongside four-player cooperative. Family Table Tennis is the second game, which, as the name suggests, offers tennis gameplay for the whole family. There are various stages and characters to choose from to play in Single or Versus mode, as well as three mini-games.

The abovementioned WiiWare games are going for 1000 and 500 Wii points, respectively.

City Connection, a classic NES title, is this week’s first retro game on the service. Selling for 500 Wii points, the game has players driving around cities while evading the police, cats and other such dangers. The second game is Metal Slug, the original NEOGEO game, for 900 Wii points. This side-scrolling action game surely needs no introduction, however, this version maintains the original’s content as well as an extra character.

Check back next week for more additions!
