How many of you college students are faced with the problem of killing “horrific other-worldly creatures”? Aside from missing a girlfriend, college student Rick Taylor has such a problem in Splatterhouse, the upcoming action game based on the classic 1988 arcade hit. In development at BottleRocket Entertainment for PS3 and Xbox 360, the game has players using the Regeneration Mask to crush monsters.

A melee combat system that makes use of grapples and combos will be featured in the game, which includes weapons such as the class 2×4 board and the severed limbs and heads of enemies, among other things.

Expect the game sometime next year.
