Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater – Original Commercal

May 29th, 2008 Posted in Culture, News by Jeff Baker

While this isn’t really news, so to speak, the commercial for the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater has been generating quite the buzz on Digg.

In the above video you will see the crudely rendered graphics of the original Playstation, along with the Hawk skating, to make for truly entertaining game play.

While you may or may not remember it, it’s really fascinating to see just how much, not only the skateboarding genre of video games have progressed, but video games as a whole.

Now lets compare this to say, EA’s skate. In just under 10 years the graphical capabilities of consoles has advanced to the point where you can’t even compare the two anymore, it’s like night and day. Just imagine what another 10 years will do for gaming, it may very well be difficult to decipher virtual reality from actual reality.
