ilmChinatown The much-hyped, blockbuster “Variety” map pack for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be released for free to PC gamers, much to the chagrin of those who bought the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions.

The free release comes as part of a sponsorship by NVIDIA. It is expected on June 5, along with a new v1.6 update.

For those not in the loop, the 800 MS points-worth map pack contained four levels – Chinatown, Broadcast, Killhouse and Creek. It sold over a million copies on Xbox Live, marking itself as one of the best-selling pieces of downloadable content in history.
