Prince of Persia: No Subtitle

June 3rd, 2008 Posted in Action, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

new_prince_of_persia_scans The upcoming Prince of Persia title seems to be shaping up real good, or so it seems. How the game came into being, and what direction it is going to take, is discussed in this thorough Eurogamer interview where the interviewee, Ben Mattes, describes the project as a return to the roots of the series, noting the greater emphasis on exploration than the recent games.

Most importantly, Mattes reveals that the game will not carry a subtitle at all. The subject of much speculation and debate among gamers (and the studio itself, he reveals), there won’t be a subtitle at all, a move which Mattes calls a “bold statement”. This differentiates the game from the Sands of Time trilogy as well as the upcoming movie which stars Jake Gyllenhaal.

As for the game itself, Mattes hopes it will click with people. “So yes, it’s bold. Yes, it’s risky,” he says. “But I’m pretty confident that when people see all of these claims in action they’re going to say, ‘Okay, I get it, and he’s right.’”

The game is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
