RE5 Not Changing To Placate Accusers

In a world where some people are trying to constantly avoid offending anyone, it’s nice to see someone taking a stand against those who read too much into something. When the Resident Evil 5 trailer came out, there was a whole lot of hubbub about racism due to the fact that since the game is set in Africa, the existing protagonist Chris Redfield (a caucasian) was shooting black people that had been presumably turned into zombies.
Instead of apologizing or somehow altering the content, the folks working on the game have kept right on with what they planned, saying that anyone who interpreted the game as making any sort of political or racist statement is in error.
Given that this is one of the few titles in the series to be located in a place other than in Racoon City (a fictional city in the United States) and its surrounding environs, it’s certainly unlikely that the newest game was placed in Africa for any reason beyond simple variety. The previous title, Resident Evil 4, was set in Europe.
