fallout 3 survival edition Appealing to those to whom the “Collector’s” edition isn’t enough, Bethesda and online retailer Amazon today revealed the Survival Edition for Fallout 3, which will be exclusive to Amazon.com.

Containing all the goodies from the Collector’s Edition, the Survival Edition also features a life-size Pip-Boy 3000. It is based on the wrist-mounted devices worn by characters in the game and has been “painstakingly recreated and modified for real world display as a digital clock,” according to Bethesda.

“At one point we seriously looked into the idea of building [a Pip-Boy 3000] that would actually work and interface with the game on some level,” wrote product manager Pete Hines on the game’s official site. “That turned out to be a huge problem technically–getting it to work on three different platforms, and 10,000 issues here and there. So we bagged that and just went back to the original idea of “something that looks just like the one in the game, and it sits on my desk.’”

The Survival Edition will sell for $120 and $130 for PC and console versions respectively. The game is due out this Fall on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
