psp_lite_3 In more good news for the PSP, Sony has announced the version 4.00 firmware for the handheld, noting that it will be out this week and will add a new Google search engine button to the XMB interface, making “web searches easier and convenient.”

The search engine function will be located under the ‘Network’ category of the XMB, allowing users to type in their query and get instant results as long as they are connected via Wi-fi hotspots. To make the whole deal sweeter, the function will recall up to 20 past items if the user wishes to look up something again.

There aren’t too many new things in the update, the other most prominent addition being the ability to change “viewing speed during playback of videos on a Memory Stick PRO Duo; this allows you to watch a video quickly, or slow it down to listen carefully to dialogue.”
