Crysis Warhead Will Run on Cheap PCs

crysisd20071102205123_2 Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli today claimed that optimizations made to Crysis Warhead, the upcoming sequel to their tropical island shooter, will make the game run smoothly with high detail settings on cheap PCs.

Yerli told PC Games that a 400 Euro (approximately $630) computer will be able to run the game, with high settings turned on, at 30 to 35 frames per second. He did not disclose the resolution at which this is possible.

He then went on to note that these optimizations will be carried over to Crysis at a later date, despite having stopped patch support for the game. “That will take a long time, because the fixes are fairly profound,” he said. “We are still in the process of the steps, but first we want to conclude Warhead.”

Crysis Warhead is due out this Fall and will be the last PC-exclusive title because of the studio’s aversion to piracy and the fact that games sell better on consoles.
