54500-2 Today’s second DRM news concerns BioShock, the famed action shooter set deep underwater in the broken city of Rapture. Publisher 2K Games has announced that it has disable the installation limit built into the PC edition of the game, lifting a restriction which let users install the game only five times.

“As promised, all activation restrictions, including install limits, have been removed from BioShock PC as of today. You don’t have to patch or install anything for this to go into effect for your copy of BioShock—it’s already done!” wrote community manager Elizabeth Tobey on the company’s official forums.

2K Games also noted that other methods of copy protection remain. Users will still need to activate their copy, as well as keep the disc in the drive. Concerning fears that the company may go deep under water leaving gamers in the lurch, Tobey had this to say: “if we ever stop supporting BioShock [online activation servers], we will release a patch so that the game is still playable.”
