GTA Film May Never Happen

gta movie poster According to LA Weekly film columnist Nikki Finke, a film based on Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series may never happen due to a 1977 movie of the same name.

The movie, directed and starred by Ron Howard, is said to be the source of a legal settlement between Fox and Rockstar where the studio agreed never to make a GTA film as long as Fox never tried to make a video game based on the film.

It may sound stupid, but it does have some basis. However, legal contracts can be changed at any time, so we might yet see a GTA film if Rockstar was up for it.
