beatles-grammy-tribute-2008-hanks-across-universe In today’s first bit of surprising news, the Financial Times reports that publishers Activision and MTV Games are currently courting representatives of the Beatles to license the legendary band’s catalog for use in their respective rhythm games. According to the report, both publishers have had discussions with representatives of the band concerning a “Beatles-themed video game.”

It is not currently clear how they plan on using the music – would it be released as downloadable content, or something similar to Guitar Hero Aerosmith?

Whatever it may be, they have a huge hurdle to overcome: Apple Corps and EMI, license holders of the catalog, still haven’t allowed the band’s music to appear on digital distribution platforms such as iTunes and has expressed hesitance for digital formats altogether.
