Movie Service Launching on PS3

June 26th, 2008 Posted in Business, PlayStation 3 by Rajiv Ashrafi

PS3 Front Gamesindustry carries word that a new download service offering movies on the PS3 will launch soon. According to Kaz Hirai, the service will go live in the US this Summer, with Japan and Europe getting it at later dates. An official announcement is expected at E3 next month.

Xbox Live already boasts movie purchases as well as rentals, and this service is meant to rival that. Sony is yet to announce any content partners, but seeing as how they have a major movie studio under their belt, I don’t see much of a problem.
