Rock Band 2 to Have 80 Master Tracks, No Music Creation

July 3rd, 2008 Posted in Music, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 by Rajiv Ashrafi

rocksmudge_2 Having only announced the game, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos revealed in an AP interview that Rock Band 2 will feature over 80 master tracks, including more female-fronted bands. He noted that the playlist will be released at E3.

Additionally, the CEO noted that the game will not feature any sort of music creation unlike Guitar Hero World Tour. Instead, music creation will be featured in a future title.

“We really felt like we wanted to do it right,” he said. “We’re taking a radically different approach to that problem. It’s something we wanted to take more time to do it right. It’s actually something we’re not focused on in ‘Rock Band 2.’ We’re really focused on other areas related to the music and bringing the community together.”

Rigopulos also talks about peripherals, stating that they will be much better than the ones introduced with the original.

Rock Band 2 is due out this Fall on the Xbox 360 first, with a PS3 release coming later in the year.
