Ubisoft Acquires Visual Effects Studio

sin_city_front_cover Ubisoft today proudly announced that it has acquired Hybride Technologies, the studio behind the visual effects for 300 and Sin City. The company, under Ubisoft, will continue its work on films while “bringing its expertise to leverage Ubisoft’s intellectual properties for the movie industry.” The two will effectively work together to develop tools for video game and visual effects production, with the goal of achieving cinema-quality game visuals.

“This alliance is a true first for the industry,” commented Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat. “Ubisoft and Hybride share the same vision of entertainment convergence and a common passion for innovation and creativity.”

In addition to the aforementioned films, the studio has worked n a number of Hollywood blockbusters, including Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, Snakes on a Plane, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Spy Kids and Highlander 3.
