Cheap Downloads of Classic PC Games is in Our Collective Futures

gogcom The Witcher developer CD Projekt has a new venture in the works that will give gamers the chance to play classic computer games once more. Dubbed GOG.com and slated to launch this September, the online store will sell DRM-free digital download of old-school games for $5.99 or $9.99 each. A closed beta test will go live next month, with the site currently accepting applications.

The site will initially carry titles from publishers Interplay and Codemasters. Some of these include the Fallout series, MDK series, Giants, Freespace series, Sacrifice, Descent series and Kingpin. More games are expected, though details weren’t provided.

All games available through the service will feature full compatibility with Windows XP and Vista; no online activation will be required other. Also, once bought, users will be able to download the games an unlimited number of times.

    So I haven’t even started this September yet. But they found me Kingpin in this September, so that was ok.
