rock band 2 dude Harmonix has officially revealed details behind Rock Band 2, the upcoming sequel to their band simulation game.

The company confirms the presence of local and global online modes, with the World Tour mode now available online. There will also be Tour Challenges and Battle of the Bands modes that challenges players to specific instruments or go up against other bands.

There will be customizable set lists, and a new drum trainer will help gain real drumming skills. Most interestingly, the game will let owners of the original Rock Band export most of the original’s disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay for a measly $5. he game, as previously said, will feature backwards compatibility with all downloadable content released so far.

Rock Band 2 will ship on Xbox 360 this September, followed by a PS3, PS2 and Wii release later in the year.
