E3 2008: PS3, PSP Video Download Service Launched

sony_logo At Sony’s E3 conference, the company launched a video download service for the PS3 and PSP, letting consumers download or rent movies and television shows through the PlayStation Network.

There are currently 300 full length movies and more than 1200 TV episodes, with resolutions starting from SD to full-fledged HD. Initial content offerings are from 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros, as well as Walt Disney Studios.

The service will allow users to download movies and transfer them to the PSP for on-the-road viewing. The service has already launched, but is exclusive to North America, with an international rollout expected later in the year.
