E3 2008: Take Two: "GTA 4 and BioShock Just the Beginning"

The success of BioShock and Grand Theft Auto 4, and the stress related to EA wanting to purchase the company, may have gone to Take Two executive chairman Strauss Zelnick’s head, as he warned his rivals that the company’s success in 2008 was just an “hors d’oeuvre”.

“We had a great year last year, but that was just an hors d’oeuvre – our pipeline this year is even more impressive,” he said. “GTA was not only the most successful of any debut video game in history – it was the most successful debut of any entertainment product in history. The added content we’re adding this year, we expect to show that our franchises are growing ever more valuable as the industry evolves.”

What may be considered most surprising is that company CEO Ben Feder then took the stage and proclaimed: “BioShock is the game of E3.”

Yes, an year old game being ported to the PS3 is “the game of E3.”
