Many Halo fans were greatly dissapointed when Bungie announced that the big reveal they’d been planning on for E3 was pulled with pretty much no explanation given. It seems that the reason wasn’t to save the janitorial staff the trouble of mopping up several inches of drool from the floor that would inevitably result. The real reason it was pulled? Time. Microsoft’s press conference was originally going to run about two and a half hours, but they decided to pare it down to a mere ninety minutes.
The question of course is why did they cut what is one of Microsoft’s flagship series? The word is that they felt it’d be much better suited to a ‘dedicated event’ where it wouldn’t overshadow anything. Likely they wanted everyone to focus most of their attention and discussion on the surprising announcement that the newest title in the increasingly inaccurately titled Final Fantasy series would be coming to the Xbox 360.

1That reasoning works but at least they could have stated that they’d make a announcement at a later date. The whole thing made it seem like something awful had gone down. Not just poor time management.
