Molyneux Eyeing MMOs

July 22nd, 2008 Posted in MMO, News, Xbox 360 by Will Prusik

While it’s unlikely that single player games will ever vanish completely, MMOs are devouring huge chunks of the video games market, so announcements of new MMOs are popping up like weeds. With his ambitious style of game making it’s no surprise that Peter Molyneux of Lionhead is thinking of jumping on the bandwagon which could be quite a boon for the genre, as while Molyneux is often guilty of getting his games incredibly hyped and then falling short of their promised potential what he does deliver is often quite innovative and enjoyable.

Mr Molyneux said in an interview that he enjoys the idea of the interaction behind all MMOs and the fact that people these days feel ’secure and cool enough’ to get involved in them. Could a Fable MMO be possible? Given the basic structure of the ‘Guild of Heroes’ laid out in the first game it seems like it could happen, but Molyneux refused to give any more details than that he is considering applying his talents towards making his own MMO.
