Red Steel 2 Confirmed

While not quite as polished as later games, likely rushed to launch the game with the Wii, Ubisoft’s Red Steel was one of the first titles to feature gameplay that showcased the potential of the Wii’s motion detection for creating games that could appeal to the more serious gamer. While the lack of true 1:1 motion sensing made the sword fighting parts of the game less than ideal, Ubisoft is giving it another try.

Ubisoft excecutive director Alain Corre has confirmed the existence of the project, noting that it’s been in production for ‘many months now’. While he hasn’t said anything about the game being created specifically for the Wii, he made several comments regarding the Wii Motion Plus as being a ‘good fit’ for this kind of game. Let’s face it anyways, while Red Steel 2 on the Wii could be a truly novel experience, on any other system it’d be a rather basic FPS. Corre admitted that the original was rushed and hopes to make the sequel a much more honed and polished experience.
