While no release date is known for Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix revealed at its invite-only event last weekend that the game will hit Japan in 2009. It is not known whether both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be released simultaneously or not since work on the latter version is yet to be started.
“We’re making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later,” said director Motomu Toriyama. “I’m telling them to not think about the Xbox 360 right now…We can think about it after the development kits arrive.”
At this year’s Microsoft E3 conference Square promised that the Xbox 360 version of the game would hit alongside the PS3 version in Europe and North America, though Japan was left out of the fray.
