Fallout 3 Gets AU Classification

Many Australian gamers must groan at the announcement of every adult-centric game due to the strict screening process of the Office of Film and Literature classification and their lack of a rating for people higher than age 15. Many developers have to jump through hoops to get their games suitable for a release ‘down under’. One of the most recent to hit this wall was Fallout 3 primarily due to its use of drugs that bore a resemblance to real-world drugs in their icons.

Whatever Bethesda did, they’ve eliminated the board’s concerns. As of August 7th the post-apocalyptic RPG has officially passed the classification process and will be available at launch with the expected MA15+ rating for “strong violence, drug use and coarse language”. There haven’t been any details released yet about what changes were made to the game to get it to pass the screening process, but hopefully there hasn’t been too much done to change the game.
