Publisher EA announced today that Crysis Warhead, the expansion pack to their tropical island shooter, will be shipped to retailers in North America on September 16 and to Europe on September 12.

Carrying a $29.99 price tag, the game will offer a new take on the events presented in the original. It is a standalone game, but is noted to be an expansion pack by the publisher.

“Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

The game will come with an expanded multiplayer mode dubbed Crysis Wars. It offers 3 modes – Team Instant Action, Instant Action and Power Struggle – in 21 maps, six of which are new for TIA and IA, while Power Struggle gets one new map.
