Nintendo Takes Gold Medal For July Hardware Sales

August 15th, 2008 Posted in Business, News, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Sales, Wii, Xbox 360 by Will Prusik

‘Hardcore’ gamers can bash on the Wii all they want, Nintendo is still trumping every other company in terms of sales. In July the Wii sold 555,000 units and the DS sold a staggering 608,400 handhelds. Sony was the runner up with 224,900 PS3s sold and Microsoft came in at last place with 204,800 Xbox 360s sold, not a bad peformance for a console that’s been on the market a year longer than the PS3 and Wii. Unfortunately it looks like Sony and Microsoft have a long way to go to catch up with Nintendo as the combined sales of their consoles doesn’t even reach the sales numbers of the Wii.
