Silicon Knights’ Next Game To Go New Direction

Silicon Knights has a history of excellent games. From old classics like Legacy of Kain to their newest title Too Human they put out quality products. If you haven’t played the Lovecraftian (it never mentions any actual Cthulhu Mythos deities, but it might as well) action/horror title Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, do so. You can pick up a Gamecube copy for cheap and play it on the Wii. While some developers stick to one particular style or type of game, Silicon Knights pride themselves on branching out and trying a new style or approach to every IP.
Dennis Dyack, the boss of the studio, has said that the next game they announce (apart from sequels) will be like “nothing else we’ve ever made before”. Is this a good thing? Should companies stretch their creative wings as far as they can or is it better that specific companies stick to honing their own particular flavor of game.
