Rock Band 2 Song Import Detailed

Following up on their original announcement, developer Harmonix has revealed that owners of the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 2 will be able to import “most” of their songs from the original game for a small fee, which will not be greater than $5.

Speaking to MTV, studio representative John Drake explained that the fee stems from licensing costs. The import functionality will require players to have the original Rock Band disc, as those songs will be installed on the hard drive. After the initial installation, the original disc will no longer be needed.

Rock Band 2 is due out next month on the Xbox 360, followed by a delayed release on PS3, PS2 and Wii. It will ship with 84 on-disc tracks.
