Ubisoft Announces ‘Dog Whisperer’ Game

September 11th, 2008 Posted in News by Will Prusik

There seems to be a rather bizarre number of pet-related games for the DS. It seems the Tamagotchi phenomenon still lingered in the social subconscious until a better form of technology than tiny keychains with pixellated screens could give them birth. Joining the ranks of Nintendogs and the like comes Cesar Millan’s Dog Whisperer. Not only is it based on the popular National Geographic show, the star himself has been working in close collaboration with Ubisoft to create a game that effectively and accurately demonstrates Millan’s own canine rehabilitation methodology.

The player will take the role of Cesar Millan’s apprentice and learn how to utilize his methodology to deal with problem dogs, which can then be applied in real life. The game is set to release Fall 2008 on both the Nintendo DS and PC. Will the game be as huge a success as the Emmy-nominated television show? Just a warning to prospective buyers of the game: despite the supposed success of Millan’s method he has no actual education in the field of animal psychology and many of his methods are criticized by animal psychologists as being potentially harmful to the animals and dangerous to their owners.
