Molyneux Admits To Fable II Flaws

Despite the fervent pride evident in his interviews, Peter Molyneux has done something quite unprecedented: he has come out before the title is even on the shelves and listed some of the flaws of the game. He has quite often recognized that he made many mistakes in the original title and this frank honesty could be just that: avoiding the comedown of overhyped games by letting the public know that there are some rough spots amidst all the polish.

He bewailed that the lip-synching is “pretty bad” and admitted that the dog can get ‘a bit fractured’ along with occasional ‘low spots’ in the animation. He of course does point out that these are relatively minor flaws in the game and puts his own reputation up as collateral against the title, saying “you can measure me by this game”. In direct contrast to his pride in the title is his admission that he has no idea how the title will perform:

“I don’t know how [Fable II is] going to be received, I’ve no idea. I think if people don’t look for problems in Fable, if they don’t care so much about jaws moving in the exact time with the lip-syncing, it might do well. But if people want to criticise… there’s things to criticise in Fable 2, I’ll be absolutely honest with you.”
