While many first person games are doing all they can to keep the genre fresh with intuitively controlled yet complexly useful cover mechanics, increasing destructible environments and challenging enemy AI the do often seem very similar in gameplay and style.

Most games that involve feats of acrobatic prowess are based on a third-person perspective, allowing the player to see everything that’s happening around them. DICE’s innovative first person action adventure title Mirror’s Edge that puts players in the shoes of a running, jumping, ninja-esque protagonist has gotten a shipping date. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the title wil be making its way to the store shelves November 11th. The PC version will be released at a later date which is as yet unspecified.

There’s a definite bonus for preordering too, as starting September 26th anyone who shells out the cash for the title before the release date will get a bonus code that’ll allow them to unlock a special ‘Time Trial’ mode in the demo. The mode will allow you to scramble across the rooftops and compete against your friends’ best times in ‘ghost races’.
