It’s official, Bioshock for the PlayStation 3 has gone gold. Fortunately that means it’s not going to be delayed. Unfortunately it also means that there’s no chance to change or improve certain aspects of the game. For example, the atrocious ending, or the boss battle which should have been in Metroid Prime 3. Things like that. The senior producer for the PlayStation 3 version of Bioshock, Melissa Miller, said it was a deliberate decision to leave the ending the way it was.

“When you get a chance to work on something that was really creative you get the temptation to re-do things. We chose not to.”

Interesting that the one, or at least the one significant, flaw in the game was the one thing they decided to resist the temptation of changing. The east they could have done was shown a conceptual ‘alternate ending’ while the game installed.
