Nintendo: DSi Not in Response to PSP, iPhone Threats
October 7th, 2008 Posted in Business, Nintendo DS
Despite being the market leader for years and possibly for many more years to come, Nintendo was reeling from the effects of the quite successful PSP by Sony and the sudden rise of the iPhone as a portable gaming platform. Many thought that Nintendo, in response to threats from these two fronts, decided to upgrade the DS and release the DSi.
Not so, says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. "We wanted to create an offering that would fit naturally into people’s everyday lives," he said, noting that the goal of the DSi was to have users wanting the device with them at “all times.”
The DSi is set to launch in Japan next month, though it won’t be released in other regions until sometime next year.

Think about the iphone 3G and the new iPod touch the gaming is brillant it’s better a gameboy up there with the psp and ds but half the games are free and the highest are £6.99 if apple were to explore the gaming market probally I mean gaming main feature it would be an instance success ea and co would provide games and I would think as at the there have been none of the big games out ie FIFA ,pes ,grand theft auto only spore has hit the iPod touch so far .Now to honest I couldn’t care what the price is as long as it didn’t go over £500. The key features I would put in if I was apple designing it :
Graphics top quality maybe HD screen
Portable
Double screen one touch
iPod
Camera one thing none of gaming consoles have
Safari
Free games
app store
Accelometre
Games which go up to £40
Gps
All the games halo FIFA pes gta fm nfs crash bandicoot possible nintendo games
