Nintendo Responds to Wii HD Rumors

October 8th, 2008 Posted in Business, Wii

nintendo_wii_hd Responding to reports that a next-gen Wii will launch in 2011, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has informed VentureBeat that such reports are nothing but “pure rumor and speculation.”

The rumors had started when ex-EGM editor John Davison cited developers and publishers who had seen a presentation of the new system. However, Fils-Aime notes that leaked information from confidential meetings was “not the way [people] would find out” about the company’s plans.”

Despite all this, a HD version of the Wii would have Nintendo strengthen its position as the global leader in the video games industry, seeing as how it would audiences worldwide and bring in more money for the company’s coffers.
