Blizzard on Upcoming Battle.net; No Mod Support in Diablo 3

October 12th, 2008 Posted in Action, PC, RPG by Rajiv Ashrafi

wwi08_diablo3_logo Looking to monetize the upcoming money-maker Diablo 3, Blizzard developer Jay Wilson noted that while the company does not want to charge a subscription fee for the upcoming revision of Battle.net, its multiplayer client, it will likely monetize unknown features of the game.

"We are going to monetize features so that we get to make them," said Wilson. "We kind of have to."

Meanwhile, Wilson also talked about modding and creating maps for the upcoming action-RPG, revealing that there won’t be any actual mod support.

"We don’t have a lot of plans to do that. It would make our lives so much harder" he said.

It’s interesting to note that Wilson (and surely many other established names in the industry) got their start in modding.
