Blizzard Talks Diablo 3 on Consoles

October 12th, 2008 Posted in Action, PC, RPG by Rajiv Ashrafi

wwi08_diablo3_logo Keeping up the onslaught of Diablo 3 news, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime suggested once again that the highly anticipated action-RPG may make its way to consoles.

"Every game we have the discussion about which platforms make the most sense," said Morhaime. "As Diablo 3 takes shape, I think we’ll do an evaluation."

He added that the game “might work very well” on consoles, but that there are technical limitations that they need to get past first.

Jay Wilson, the game’s director, also spoke on the topic, noting that Diablo 3’s control scheme would work quite well on consoles.

"If we did it, we would want to do a really high quality version–we wouldn’t just want to do a port," he said. "We would never make that decision if we thought we had to compromise the overall quality…we could probably do it at any time, we could release the game and then decide we wanted to do a 360 version or a PS3 version."

However, Wilson notes that they are yet to take any decision on a multiplatform release. Though with the game more than a year away, they’ve got ample time.
