Hoping to break the tradition set by itself, Microsoft will no longer release biannual updates, instead opting to push out updates more frequently, following in the footsteps of Sony.

The “spring” and “fall” updates would introduce big new features to the Xbox 360, including DivX playback and the upcoming Avatars support.

"I don’t know if we’re going to tie ourselves to a spring fall release schedule," said Microsoft’s John Schappert at the Tokyo Game Show. "I like staying focused on bigger, more impactful releases … maybe it’ll be twice a year, maybe less frequently, to-be-determined."

So guys, what do you think? Big, biannual updates, or smaller, more frequent ones?
