WiiFit Sees Demand Enough To Necessitate Locator Site

October 13th, 2008 Posted in Business, News, Wii

It’s not just the Wii that’s going like hotcakes with a holiday season fast approaching. The peripheral/workout device WiiFit is seeing some high sales especially in the UK. Most retailers are finding their shelves empty of stock as soon as they get it in.

It seems that one individual felt that it’d be worthwhile to cut out the endless running between stores and calling locations every day to find out if there’s a copy of WiiFit available in the UK. Chantal Matar set up a site that allows prospective WiiFit buyers to find if there’s a store in their area that has one to sell.

While the Wii has a whole lot of staying power, it’s hard to tell if the WiiFit itself will become a force to be reckoned with or if it’ll be relatively ignored like the Power Pad of the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

When Chantal setup this site, there were already 3 or 4 very good Wii Fit stock locators available. I think it was more a case of Miss Matar wanting a slice of the Wii Fit pie than anything else.
