Analyst Believes New Tony Hawk Game Will Have Skateboard Controller, Better Sales

TonyHawk_468x481 It was earlier this year when a marketing leak informed gamers that the next entry in the Tony Hawk series would be played using a dedicated skateboard-shaped controller, ala Guitar Hero. Now, Cowan and Company analyst Dough Creutz has added his weight to the leak, noting that such a device is extremely likely.

"We also view it as highly likely that the game will include some sort of skateboard peripheral with all SKUs when it ships, given the massive success (and higher price points and profitability) of Activision Blizzard’s Guitar Hero franchise," he wrote.

Creutz believes that keeping a year gap will actually help consumers “shake off franchise fatigue” and will most likely contribute to better unit sales than the franchise has enjoyed recently.

The game, which publisher Activision has said will be completely reworked from its predecessors and “won’t be your father’s Tony Hawk,” is expected to hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year.
