First Bioshock 2 Trailer

Along with the challenge modes included in the PS3 version of Bioshock was something interesting: the first trailer for the sequel. The trailer reveals that the title will be officially called Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. The trailer starts zoomed in on a big daddy toy that is being held by a little sister that you see as the camera zooms out.
She’s standing on the beach and looking out over the ocean. As the camera pulls back a series of columns rise from the sand and form themselves into vague building shapes, with the last few buildings to rise up forming the skyline that forms the background of the Bioshock 2 logo which then fades in over the sand buildings.
There’s been a lot of hints that the game will be a prequel and some details definitely hint at the possibility of that: the rising of the city out of the sand being symbolic of growth and the title hinting and Andrew Ryan’s dream of building a perfect city in the midst of the Atlantic ocean.
Other things make me wonder at the likelihood of a true sequel. First of all the little girl looks fairly normal, suggesting that she’s been reverted to her former state. She’s still holding onto a big daddy toy and although the images in the trailer might be intended as purely symbolic, the existence of a perfect representation of a big daddy before the creation of rapture is unlikely as they were created within the city itself. Lastly is the logo. The logo of the original game has the look of slightly rusted metal. The logo for Bioshock 2 looks more aged: the towers are more rusty and is now encrusted in places with barnacles, hinting that it’s been underwater for a while.
Of course without any concrete details from 2K Marin you’ll just have to wait and see if anything I’ve said is accurate. I’m willing to admit I could be way off and the changes to the logo were just stylistic/cosmetic.
