The next Xbox console might be hidden deep within the bowels of the Microsoft campus, but that doesn’t stop people from speculating about it. Xbox fansite Xbox Evolved claims that Microsoft is “testing the waters” with “forward-compatible games” for the next-gen Xbox console, which is often humorously referred to as the Xbox 720.
The site notes that the console, in addition to being backwards compatible, will enhance select Xbox 360 games, giving enhanced graphics, improved frame rates and even additional functionality with the new controller.
Developers will need to implement forward compatibilty in their upcoming titles, though those tools aren’t yet available as the specifications of the next-gen Xbox is yet to be finalized.
