Rock Band 2 Wii Supports World Tour’s Controllers, All Rock Band DLC
Developer Harmonix has confirmed that the Wii release of Rock Band 2 will be compatible with the Wii guitars from Guitar Hero 3.
"HMX is committed to establishing Rock Band as a platform," reads a forum post. “We’d like to encourage the interoperability of instruments between platforms so that players can experience music, and our games, with their instrument of choice."
It is not known yet whether Guitar Hero World Tour, the upcoming entry in the popular rhythm franchise, will support the guitar controllers from its predecessor. Also, it is yet unknown if World Tour’s Wii guitars and drums will be compatible with Rock Band 2, though it is likely they will function well.
The Wii version of Rock Band 2 is due out this December. It will come with 84 on-disc tracks and will support downloadable content, with Harmonix having announced that all existing and future Rock Band DLC will be brought to the Wii.

Will the wii microphone from world tour be compatible with the wii version of Rock Band 2? (or vise versa)

Yes, the microphones will work with all Rock Band games and GHWT. It is just a normal mircophone that connects into the USB socket on the back of the wii, so any USB microphone will work as well.

Im trying to decide which Wii band game to purchase. I like Guitar Hero World Tour, but I like the songs on Rock band 1 and 2. When we will know if the insturments that come with GHWT will be able to play on Rock Band one or two?

We should know if the instruments will be compatible in a few days when the game comes out. In my opinion, I would get GHWT with the instruments, but i would also get Rock Band 2 , but just the game. If you have a GH3 controller, it will work on Rock Band 2, and then you can just download all of the songs from Rock Band 1 onto RB2. If the drums from GHWT don’t work on RB2, then its not much of a loss because you can still do guitar, and singing with the GHWT microphone. If all of the GHWT instruments do work with RB2, then its just a bonus.

GHWT will support guitars from GH3 on the Wii; as an added bonus, the GHWT guitars will work on GH3. And as GHWT comes out on Sunday, and RB2 comes out soon, we should figure it out soon. At the very least, I believe, the GHWT stuff will be compatible with RB2 but not the other way around (I say this because RB2 delayed the release date, hopefully to make some compatability; GHWT didn’t. Also, the GHWT stuff needs to have wii motes inserted into them; RB2 stuff doesn’t use Wii Motes). In that case you could buy GHWT stuff and both discs.

Does anyone know if the RB1 Wii drums will work on Guitar Hero 4?

Yes it has been confirmed that the RB1 drums will work with Guitar hero world tour.

Uh, the headline of this article has nothing to do with the content.
The headline says: “Rock Band 2 Wii Supports World Tour’s Controllers”
The article says: “Also, it is yet unknown if World Tour’s Wii guitars and drums will be compatible with Rock Band 2″

Will the RB1 guitar work with GHWT?
Thanks

FYI, I was not able to get the RB1 drums to work with GHWT.

I’d be wary of this news. Harmonix also said that the GHWT drums would be compatible on Rock Band 2, which turned out to be a blatant lie. Harmonix loves screwing over gamers that don’t have a 360.

Any suggestions? Help?

Kim, they’re probably defective. If you have a warranty on them, I suggest returning them.

Do you know if you need 3 separate wii controllers to work all 3 instruments in Rock Bank World Tour? I just purchase it last night and could only get 2 instruments to play at one time (couldn’t get drums/guitar/vocals all at once). Is this because I only have 2 controllers?
