Saints Row 3 In Development, Going New Direction

October 27th, 2008 Posted in Action, DLC, News, Xbox 360 by Will Prusik

Usually there’s a decent degree of lag time between titles in a series. Developers often go on to different projects while they wait to see if the newest version of the IP is successful before they gear up for the next round.

Volition is skipping all that nonsense: not only has the developer already confirmed that there will be a Saints Row 3, but they’ve told the public it’s already in development. Associate producer Dan Stutton said that they have learned from the frustrations voiced by gamers who played the first title at the many loose ends at its finale. He says that they’ve tied them up in the second game and the third will be moving in a different direction than the previous two titles.

Predictably he said that he can’t give out any details, but he was willing to give some information about upcoming DLC for Saints Row 2: “We haven’t announced them yet, but we are looking at bigger stuff definitely. Like we had the ho-ho-ho pack, clothing, that kind of thing, now we’re looking at multiplayer maps, another story arc, new characters. We’re looking at a lot more scope, and I know we’re going to come up with a lot more.”
