If you have been a fan of homebrew on the Nintendo DS platform, you better prepare yourself for this one. With the release of the new DSi model also comes the end of homebrew development, or so it seems.
Well, the main tool of homebrew were the flash cards, shaped like a DS game, that you could load software on from your computer and then boot it up in your DS. Well, the DSi prevents these cards from working, both auto-boot and menu-bootable. If an auto-boot card is inserted, the DSi will crash, while if a menu-bootable card is inserted the DSi will crash upon sellection.
Bummer, looks like hackers and crackers everwhere better get on this, but for now? If you really want to continue using homebrew just stick to a DS lite.

4I’ll give the hackers a week before they crack the DSi. That’s about how long it took the Wii to get re-cracked after Nintendo “fixed” the piracy issues on it, and I doubt the DSi will be using any different software.

8Dude,,, why Not do this?
Nintendo is a company that needs and wants money and if it doesn’t get it then they stop making stuff.
They cant just go around making Pentagon lvl security on handhelds so yea there gona get hacked kus lots of people are …. like free stuff shall we say…..
But they can at least try to stop the current hacks and then the next system will have anti-hacks for that.
Or would u just think they lie over and make u hardware while u get the free software?
And this will obviously NOT kill homebrew, ppl will hack and new R4 cards will be out soon enough, so stop bitching

11They have cracked the dsi through the SD slot (big surprise huh?) and only after 3 Days in Japan. Also a few flash carts work on the dsi.
