Activision: Second-tier Games Will Suffer This Year

180px-Activision_logo Stating the obvious, Activision CEO Mike Griffith said that while the growth of videogame shelf space will help the industry’s chances of weathering the economic disaster this year, second-tier games may be the major victims of the poor economy.

"Publishers with top-selling titles will likely benefit disproportionately in this quarter," he said. "Retailers are ordering less up front, and are focusing on chasing the winners… being more cautious with second-tier titles."

As expected, he was optimistic about his company’s chances, noting that new Guitar Hero, Call of Duty and World of Warcraft titles will pull the company along very well this holiday season.
