Fallout 3 Being Further Censored for Japan
Fallout 3 seems to have hit more walls getting released around the world since Manhunt 2. First the Australian ratings board brought up issues with the depiction of drugs and drugs use in the game. Bethesda of course easily cut out the vivid icons that were causing the objections and wisely decided to use that version for all countries in order to avoid such problems elsewhere.
Before now there hadn’t been any reported snags anywhere else. Bethesda has put out a press release however that the title will be getting some further cuts for the Japanese release. The blood content will be moderated and in the quest “Power of the Atom” where the player has the option of either defusing the active nuclear warhead in the middle of town Megaton or rigging it with a detonator will have the latter option taken out. Players will only be able to either defuse the bomb or leave it alone.
There’s also a weapon that’s getting a name change as it was deemed ‘inappropriate’ for the country. They didn’t list it specifically, but I’m betting my money on it being the “Fat Man” mini nuke launcher. Students of history will recall that ‘Fat Man’ was the name given to the atomic bomb that was detonated over the city of Nagasaki in World War II.
