Uwe Boll Charged 2.1 Million For Libel
It’s not exactly the ban from making films for all eternity that many in the video game and film industries hope would be slapped on the generally reviled director but German filmmaker Uwe Boll has gotten some comeuppance. He’s well known for mouthing off about anyone who criticizes his films. He criticized both Stephen Spielberg and Ben Kingsley earlier this year in the same fell swoop.
The loudmouthed filmmaker has a long history of speaking out against anyone he feels has wronged him but in his fervor he crossed the line. He wrote emails to the clients of his film distributor Fantastic Films International criticizing the company. A judge ruled that Boll was guilty of libel and ordered him to pay $2.1 million including $200,000 to Roxane Barbat, owner of the company.
