Wrath of the Lich King is the Fastest-selling PC Title of All Time
Blizzard announced today that Wrath of the Lich King, its second World of Warcraft expansion pack, sold over 2.8 million copies during its first day on store shelves. Thus, the company declared it “the fastest-selling PC game of all time,” which it just might as well be.
According to the developer, the previous game to hold the title was its own title – The Burning Crusade – which sold 2.4 million copies on day one. It launched in January 2007.
Wrath of the Lich King was released on November 13 and adds the frozen continent of Northrend, Death Knight hero class, increased level to 80 and more. World of Warcraft is currently the most popular MMORPG in the world, having over 11 million subscribers.
