Fable DLC Revealed
The first downloadable content for Fable 2 has been revealed today as promised. It’s good news for everyone as there’s bonus content that you can pay for and some stuff that’s completely free of charge. The premium content is the ‘Knothole Island’ DLC pack. It adds a brand new area to the game with extra characters, quests to complete and of course treasures to discover. Here’s the official blurb that gives a hint as to the quests you can undertake: The remote island of Knothole is dying, its golden sands and lush vegetation covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine.
For anyone who doesn’t want to pony up the cash for the extra area/quests there’s a free download pack that you’ll need in order to play with someone who bought the premium content. Unfortunately this doesn’t give you the ability to travel to Knothole Island with your friend, in order to do that both players have to download the premium content. The free pack does come with some content of its own however including a weight loss potion, assassin’s gloves, knight’s boots and more, described as a “shower of gifts”.
Both the premium and free content packs are available beginning December 12th with the premium pack costing 800 MS points. It’s certainly a good idea overall: give people a free pack with some goodies that lets them check out the cool clothes/weapons/hairstyles/tattoos/etc. included in the premium pack. I’ll bet there’s more than one gamer who’ll say “okay, that sword/axe/coat is supremely cool” and go download it themselves.
