After Atari faced some heavy financial burdens they announced that one of their paths to financial recovery would be to focus more on publishing than on developing internally. In the wake of the Activision Blizzard merger they picked up two properties that many gamers were hoping wouldn’t be lost to the gloomy realms of vaporware: Ghostbusters: The Video Game and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

It seems that this arrangement is going to benefit everyone as both titles have many people excited and are poised to perform well commercially. Both Terminal Reality, the studio behind Ghostbusters and Starbreeze, the Riddick developer are praising Atari for giving them the time and resources to truly polish their games. Terminal Reality says they’ve spent their time “primarily on player experience”, adding more puzzle elements and ‘creepy elements’ to the already stunning looking title. Starbreeze has focused on balancing the multiplayer elements and improving facets of the original that gamers found annoying.
